Your child will need to be monitored for at least 3 hours after the sedation procedure. Have your child stay home and do not return him/her to school today. Do not leave your child alone.
If your child has had local anaesthetic (“freezing”) it is best to have liquids only or foods that require minimal chewing such as popsicles, smoothies or warm soup until the freezing wears off (about 2 hours).
Remind your child not to play with or bite his/her lip/cheek/tongue while the area is frozen.
If your child experiences discomfort, analgesics like Acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) can be used 4 hours after his/her appointment. Please follow the directions provided on the package for dosages.
